Functional Testing

Functional testing provides a clear understanding of how your body is functioning and can identify underlying causes of symptoms. While it does not diagnose conditions, it can rule out potential diseases and provide a baseline for measuring progress through interventions.

Our professional industry-recognised laboratories analyse saliva, blood, urine, or stool samples to investigate nutritional shortfalls, metabolic and cellular health, inflammatory pathways, and gut microbiome imbalances, food intolerances and allergies and toxic metals.

There are a variety of tests to suit different budgets and health concerns, and most are suitable for both children and adults.

Tests available

Other tests are available, but these are the most commonly ordered ones.

  • Comprehensive stool analysis and gut microbiome testing (bacteria, yeast, viruses and parasites and digestive support).

  • Food and environmental allergies (IgE) and food intolerances (IgG).

  • Organic acids and amino acids used to screen for antioxidant, vitamin, mineral, digestive and protein insufficiencies, heavy metals and toxins.

  • Nutritional Deficiencies including Vitamin D, ferritin, folate, B12, magnesium, copper, zinc and iron.

  • Hair mineral analysis (for a heavy metal toxicity and a trace mineral check).

  • full thyroid screen: TSH, T4, T3, Reverse T3 and Thyroid Antibodies.

  • Hormones (adrenal profile, oestrogen, testosterone, progesterone) including the DUTCH test.

To order a test:

To order a test you will require an initial consultation to assess which test needs to be carrier out to get you the best outcome for your health concern and budget.

The laboratory tests will then be ordered and the kit sent home for you to carry out at your convenience. These tend to be stool, urine, saliva and hair tests. If a blood test is required, you will be advised on phlebotomy services close to your home or even a home visit.

All laboratory testing is charged in addition to the initial appointment and follow up fee. In most cases these are paid directly to the laboratory involved when the test kits are ordered, but some do need to be paid for at the time of the appointment.

The laboratory test results will then be analysed and you will be notified when they are available. A follow up consultation will be a minimum of 60 minutes as many of these test results need a full explanation and personalised interpretation.

You will then receive your personalised health plan detailing the the test findings, and advised dietary interventions, lifestyle changes, and food supplement regime and a copy of the test results.
